Why fragile items need extra care
Shipments can move through several handling points before delivery. Even when a parcel is transported carefully, boxes may still be stacked, sorted, and transferred between vehicles.
Basic packing steps
- Wrap the item with protective material such as bubble wrap.
- Fill empty space inside the box so the item does not shift.
- Use a sturdy outer box that fits the item well.
- Seal all edges securely with strong tape.
- Label the package clearly and keep the recipient details readable.
Double-boxing for extra protection
For very delicate items, place the wrapped item inside a smaller inner box first, then place that box inside a larger outer box with cushioning around it. This adds another layer against impact.
Mistakes to avoid
- Using oversized boxes with too much empty space
- Reusing weak cartons that bend easily
- Skipping cushioning at the corners
- Writing the address on loose tape only
Helpful reminder
Good packaging does not guarantee zero risk, but it greatly improves the parcel’s chance of arriving intact. If the item is highly valuable, ask the branch whether any additional handling advice applies.
Final note
Fragile LBC shipments do best when the inside of the box is just as well protected as the outside. Secure packing is one of the easiest ways to prevent damage claims later.
