How Long LBC Holds Undelivered Packages
Find out how long LBC may keep a package after a failed delivery attempt or branch hold before return processing begins.
By LBC Tracking Team
What happens after a missed delivery
If LBC cannot complete delivery, the shipment is usually held temporarily while another attempt or pickup option is considered. The exact handling can vary by branch, service type, and the reason delivery failed.
Situations that can lead to a hold
- Nobody was available to receive the parcel.
- The address was incomplete or unclear.
- The receiver could not be contacted.
- The branch needs more instructions from the sender.
- The parcel is waiting for branch pickup.
Typical hold period
LBC commonly keeps undelivered parcels for a limited number of business days before return-to-sender processing. In many cases, a short hold of around 3 to 5 business days is a practical expectation, but the actual period may differ depending on the shipment.
What the receiver should do
The receiver should act quickly if tracking shows a failed delivery or branch hold. Contacting LBC early gives the best chance to arrange redelivery or confirm pickup before the package is returned.
What to prepare
- Tracking number
- Valid identification for pickup if required
- Updated address or contact number if the original details were wrong
- Authorization letter if someone else will claim the package
Best practice
Do not wait until the end of the hold period. As soon as the status changes to a failed attempt or branch hold, contact the sender and LBC so the parcel does not move into return processing.
